We have developed and tested a software package to provide near instant visual and audible notification to observers and telescopes involved with our collaboration. Our central system at Harvard watches for new GRBs arriving from the GCN socket (TCP/IP), makes decisions about suitablity and observability, then "wakes" up the remote observers. At the heart of remote observing machines is a code called grb-watchd that waits for new GRBs. Once activated, it splashes up a warning message on the screen and makes a noise,

launches ds9 and displays a finding chart,

and sends an email to the observer account. An example of the email message is listed below.

The observers accounts are set up to allow more than one ds9 window running at one time, so this additional ds9 window will not interfere with the regular observers' ds9. If you do not wish to take data for us, you could simply click the "Dont Bug Me" button and we will be notified not to interrupt your observing run by calling you. Finally, if you are interested in the downloading the grb-watchd client for your computer, please contact Josh Bloom.
